Uses and Benefits of AKURIT Z KID (RIFAMPICIN 60 MG + ISONIAZID 30 MG + PYRAZINAMIDE 150 MG)
This combination medicine is used in the treatment of active tuberculosis (TB) infection, usually during the initial intensive phase of treatment.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Treatment of pulmonary (lung) tuberculosis
- Treatment of certain forms of extra-pulmonary tuberculosis, as advised by doctor
- Used as part of a multi-drug anti-TB regimen, never alone
HOW IT WORKS
- Rifampicin stops TB bacteria from multiplying by blocking their ability to make essential proteins
- Isoniazid damages the bacterial cell wall, killing the bacteria
- Pyrazinamide works especially well in acidic environments inside infected tissue, killing dormant bacteria
- Together they act on bacteria at different stages, lowering the risk of drug resistance
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Not used for viral infections like cold, flu or COVID-19
- Not used for ordinary bacterial infections such as UTI or throat infection
- Not a painkiller or fever medicine
- Not to be used for latent TB without doctor's specific advice

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS
- Nausea and vomiting
- Loss of appetite
- Stomach upset
- Orange-red discoloration of urine, saliva or tears (harmless)
- Joint pain

- Yellowing of eyes or skin, dark urine (signs of liver problem)
- Severe stomach pain with vomiting
- Unusual tiredness or weakness
- Easy bruising or unusual bleeding
- Severe skin reaction with blisters or peeling
- Difficulty breathing, swelling of face or throat (allergic reaction)
- Vision changes or eye pain
- Persistent fever or flu-like symptoms

How to Use AKURIT Z KID (RIFAMPICIN 60 MG + ISONIAZID 30 MG + PYRAZINAMIDE 150 MG)
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once daily
- Best taken on an empty stomach, at least 30 minutes before food, unless your doctor advises otherwise
- Swallow the tablet whole with a full glass of water
- Do not skip doses or stop early even if you feel better - complete the full course as advised
- Take at the same time each day to maintain regularity
- Avoid alcohol during treatment as it increases risk of liver damage
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Take the missed dose as soon as you remember
- If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and continue as usual
- Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one
- Try to maintain a consistent daily routine to avoid missed doses
STORAGE
- Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
- Keep in original packaging until ready to use
- Keep out of reach and sight of children
- Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
- Are allergic to rifampicin, isoniazid, pyrazinamide or any other ingredient
- Have severe active liver disease
- Have had previous drug-induced jaundice or liver damage from these medicines
- Have acute gout
TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU
- Have any liver or kidney disease
- Are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding
- Drink alcohol regularly
- Have diabetes
- Have a history of seizures or nerve problems
- Are taking any other medicines, including herbal or over-the-counter products
MEDICINES THAT CAN INTERACT
