This combination medicine is prescribed to treat various bacterial infections, particularly those involving skin, soft tissue, bone, ENT, and respiratory tract, where a mix of bacteria including resistant staphylococcus may be involved.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Skin and soft tissue infections such as boils and abscesses
• Respiratory tract infections like bronchitis
• Ear, nose, and throat infections
• Bone and joint infections
• Post-surgical infections as advised by the doctor

HOW IT WORKS

• Amoxycillin kills bacteria by stopping them from building their protective cell wall
• Cloxacillin adds protection against bacteria that would otherwise destroy amoxycillin, especially penicillin-resistant staphylococcus
• Together they cover a wider range of bacteria than either medicine alone

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Viral infections such as common cold, flu, or most sore throats
• Fungal infections
• Fever without a confirmed bacterial cause
• Self-medication without a doctor's prescription

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Severe allergic reaction with swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat

• Yellowing of eyes or skin (signs of liver problems)
• Severe, watery, or bloody diarrhoea that does not stop
• Unusual bleeding or bruising

How to Use BLUMOX-PLUS CAPSULE (Amoxycillin 250mg + Cloxacillin 250mg)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, in the dose and duration advised
• Usually taken on an empty stomach, about half an hour before food, unless your doctor tells you otherwise
• Swallow capsules with a full glass of water; do not chew
• Complete the full course even if you feel better early, to prevent bacteria becoming resistant
• Take doses at evenly spaced times through the day as instructed

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take the missed dose as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue as normal
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct heat, light, and moisture
• Keep out of reach of children
• If a reconstituted syrup is prescribed, check the label for how many days it can be used after mixing and keep it refrigerated if advised
• Do not use the medicine after its expiry date

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Are allergic to penicillin, amoxycillin, cloxacillin, or any other beta-lactam antibiotic
• Have had a severe allergic reaction to any antibiotic in the past

TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU

• Have kidney or liver disease
• Have a history of asthma, allergies, or hives
• Have had diarrhoea after taking antibiotics before
• Are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding
• Have glandular fever (infectious mononucleosis)
• Are on any long-term medication

MEDICINES THAT CAN INTERACT

• Oral contraceptive pills (may reduce effectiveness)
• Blood thinners like warfarin
• Methotrexate
