Uses and Benefits of BRIMOSUN LS EYE DROP (BRIMONIDINE 0.1% W/V)
This composition is mainly used to treat conditions where the pressure inside the eye is higher than normal.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Open-angle glaucoma
- Ocular hypertension (raised eye pressure without damage yet)
- Long-term control of eye pressure to protect vision
HOW IT WORKS
- Brimonidine is an alpha-2 adrenergic agonist
- It reduces the production of the watery fluid (aqueous humour) inside the eye
- It also helps increase the drainage of this fluid, lowering overall eye pressure
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- It is not used to treat eye infections
- It is not a painkiller and does not treat eye injuries
- It is not used for redness caused by allergy or dryness
- It should not be used to treat angle-closure glaucoma emergencies without doctor guidance

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS
- Eye redness
- Burning or stinging sensation after applying drops
- Itching in the eye
- Dry mouth
- Blurred vision for a short time after use
LESS COMMON SIDE EFFECTS
- Headache
- Feeling drowsy or tired
- Eye irritation or discomfort
- Watery eyes
- Sensitivity to light
SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY
- Severe allergic reaction with swelling of eyelids, face, lips or throat
- Difficulty breathing
- Irregular or slow heartbeat
- Fainting or severe dizziness
- Severe drop in blood pressure causing weakness

How to Use BRIMOSUN LS EYE DROP (BRIMONIDINE 0.1% W/V)
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Use only in the eye, as prescribed by your doctor
- Wash your hands before using the drops
- Tilt your head back, pull down the lower eyelid gently and instil the drop
- Avoid touching the dropper tip to your eye or any surface
- Press gently on the inner corner of the eye for a minute after use to reduce absorption into the body
- If using other eye drops, wait at least five to ten minutes between different drops
- Do not stop using suddenly without consulting your doctor, even if your eyes feel fine
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Use it as soon as you remember
- If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue as usual
- Do not use double drops to make up for a missed dose
STORAGE
- Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and heat
- Keep the bottle tightly closed when not in use
- Do not use after the expiry date or once discolouration is noticed
- Keep out of reach of children

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
- Are allergic to brimonidine or any ingredient in the drops
- Are a newborn or very young child (risk of serious breathing problems)
- Are currently taking certain antidepressants known as MAO inhibitors
TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU
- Have heart disease, low blood pressure, or blood circulation problems
- Have kidney or liver disease
- Have depression or other mental health conditions
- Are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding
- Wear contact lenses
- Are using other eye medicines
MEDICINES THAT CAN INTERACT
- Antidepressants, including MAO inhibitors and tricyclics
- Sedatives or medicines that cause drowsiness
- Blood pressure medicines
- Other eye drops used for glaucoma

Can I drive after using this eye drop?
Your vision may be blurred for a short while after use, so wait until it clears before driving or using machinery.
How long does it take to work?
It starts lowering eye pressure within a couple of hours, but regular long-term use is needed to protect vision.
Can I use it with contact lenses?
- Remove contact lenses before using the drops and wait at least fifteen minutes before putting them back.
