This medicine is used to treat inflammatory conditions of the gut, particularly Crohn's disease involving the ileum and ascending colon, and sometimes other forms of colitis.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Treating active mild to moderate Crohn's disease
• Maintaining remission in Crohn's disease for a limited period
• Managing certain types of microscopic colitis

HOW IT WORKS

• It is a corticosteroid that acts mainly on the lining of the gut
• It reduces swelling, redness, and irritation in the intestinal wall
• Its special coating releases the medicine slowly in the intended part of the gut, limiting effects on the rest of the body

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• It is not used for general body-wide inflammation like other steroids
• It is not a painkiller and does not treat infections

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take before a meal unless your doctor tells you otherwise
• Do not stop suddenly without consulting your doctor, especially after long use
• Continue for the full duration prescribed even if you feel better

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember on the same day
• If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
