This medicine is used to treat pain caused by spasms (sudden tightening) of the muscles in the stomach, intestines, gallbladder, and urinary tract.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Abdominal colic and cramping pain
• Irritable bowel syndrome related cramps
• Pain due to gallbladder or bile duct spasm
• Pain due to spasm in the urinary tract, such as kidney stone colic
• Sometimes used before certain medical procedures to relax the gut

HOW IT WORKS

• It relaxes the smooth muscles lining the stomach, intestines, and urinary tract
• It blocks certain nerve signals that cause these muscles to go into spasm
• This reduces cramping and the pain that comes with it

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• It is not a general painkiller for headaches, body pain, or fever
• It does not treat the underlying cause of the spasm, such as infection or stones
• It is not used for long-term pain management without medical supervision
• It should not be used to self-treat undiagnosed abdominal pain

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor
• It can be taken with or without food
• Swallow the tablet with a glass of water
• Do not crush or chew unless your doctor or pharmacist tells you to
• Do not increase the dose or take it more often than advised

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take the missed dose as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue as usual
• Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed one

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep in the original packaging until ready to use
• Keep out of reach and sight of children
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Are allergic to hyoscine butylbromide or any of its ingredients
• Have a condition called megacolon or severe ulcerative colitis
• Have myasthenia gravis
• Have unstable narrow-angle glaucoma
• Have a blockage in your intestines or urinary tract

• Have heart problems, especially fast or irregular heartbeat
• Have an enlarged prostate or difficulty passing urine
• Are pregnant or breastfeeding
• Have kidney or liver disease

MEDICINES THAT CAN INTERACT

• Other medicines with similar anticholinergic effects, such as certain antidepressants or antihistamines
• Medicines for Parkinson's disease
• Metoclopramide, as it may reduce the effect of this medicine on the gut
• Beta-agonist medicines used for asthma, due to effects on heart rate
