Uses and Benefits of CARDACE AM 10 TABLET (Ramipril 10mg + Amlodipine 5mg)
This combination medicine is mainly used to treat high blood pressure that is not adequately controlled by a single medicine.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Long-term control of high blood pressure (hypertension)
- Reducing the risk of heart attack, stroke, and other cardiovascular complications linked to high blood pressure
- Sometimes used in patients who need two blood pressure medicines combined for better control
HOW IT WORKS
- Ramipril blocks an enzyme (ACE) that narrows blood vessels, causing them to relax and widen
- Amlodipine blocks calcium entry into blood vessel walls, relaxing the muscles and improving blood flow
- Together they lower blood pressure through two different mechanisms, giving better control than either alone
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- It is not a painkiller or fever medicine
- It is not used for sudden, emergency lowering of very high blood pressure
- It is not a substitute for lifestyle changes like diet, exercise, and weight control
- It should not be used to treat heart rate problems unrelated to blood pressure
