This combination medicine is mainly used to treat high blood pressure in patients who need more than one medicine to control it.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Treatment of high blood pressure (hypertension)
- Used when a single blood pressure medicine is not enough to control levels
- May be used to reduce strain on the heart in some patients, as decided by the doctor
HOW IT WORKS
- Ramipril blocks an enzyme (ACE) that narrows blood vessels, allowing them to relax and widen
- Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic that helps the kidneys remove excess salt and water, lowering blood volume
- Together, they lower blood pressure more effectively than either alone
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Not used for immediate emergency lowering of dangerously high blood pressure
- Not a painkiller or fever medicine
- Not used for treating infections
- Not suitable for starting therapy in someone who has never taken blood pressure medicines before, without doctor guidance

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS
- Dizziness or lightheadedness
- Dry cough
- Tiredness or weakness
- Headache
- Increased urination
LESS COMMON SIDE EFFECTS
- Nausea or upset stomach
- Muscle cramps
- Low blood pressure symptoms like fainting on standing up
- Skin rash
- Changes in taste
SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY
- Swelling of face, lips, tongue or throat, or difficulty breathing (angioedema)
- Severe dizziness or fainting
- Yellowing of skin or eyes (jaundice)
- Signs of very low sodium or potassium levels such as severe weakness, confusion, muscle cramps
- Little or no urine output
- Severe skin reactions with blistering or peeling

How to Use CARDACE H 10 TABLET (Ramipril 10mg + Hctz 12.5mg)
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once a day
- Try to take it at the same time each day, generally in the morning
- Can be taken with or without food, unless your doctor advises otherwise
- Swallow the tablet with a glass of water; do not crush or chew unless instructed
- Do not stop taking it suddenly without talking to your doctor, even if you feel well
- Continue regular blood pressure checks as advised
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Take the missed dose as soon as you remember on the same day
- If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue as usual
- Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed one
STORAGE
- Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
- Keep in the original packaging until it is time to take it
- Keep out of reach of children
- Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
- Are pregnant or planning pregnancy
- Are breastfeeding
- Have had swelling reactions (angioedema) to ACE inhibitors before
- Have severe kidney disease or are unable to urinate
- Have a known allergy to sulfa-containing medicines
- Have severe liver disease
TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU
- Have kidney or liver disease
- Have diabetes
- Have gout or high uric acid levels
- Have low blood pressure or tend to feel dizzy on standing
- Are on a salt-restricted or potassium-restricted diet
- Have had a recent heart attack or stroke
- Are elderly, as dose adjustments may be needed

- Potassium supplements or potassium-sparing diuretics
- Other blood pressure lowering medicines
- NSAID painkillers like ibuprofen or diclofenac used regularly
- Lithium
- Diabetes medicines, as blood sugar may be affected
- Other diuretics
