This combination is used in patients who need control of both blood pressure/heart protection and cholesterol levels at the same time.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Managing high blood pressure
- Reducing high cholesterol and triglyceride levels
- Lowering risk of heart attack and stroke in people with heart disease or diabetes
- Supporting heart function after a heart attack in some patients
HOW IT WORKS
- Ramipril relaxes and widens blood vessels by blocking a hormone called angiotensin, lowering blood pressure and reducing strain on the heart
- Atorvastatin lowers the production of cholesterol in the liver, reducing LDL (bad cholesterol) and slightly raising HDL (good cholesterol)
- Together they reduce overall cardiovascular risk
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Not used for immediate relief of chest pain (angina attack)
- Not a treatment for infections or general body pain
- Not for use in pregnancy or for children
- Not a substitute for lifestyle changes like diet and exercise

- Swelling of face, lips, tongue or throat (signs of angioedema)
- Severe muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness with dark-colored urine (possible muscle breakdown)
- Yellowing of skin or eyes, or signs of liver problems
- Severe dizziness, fainting, or very low blood pressure
- Signs of kidney problems such as reduced urination or swelling in legs

How to Use CARDACE PROTECT 2.5 (Ramipril 2.5mg + Atorvastatin 10mg)
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once daily
- Can be taken with or without food, but try to take it at the same time each day
- Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew unless advised
- Avoid grapefruit juice as it may interact with the statin part of this medicine
- Continue taking it regularly even if you feel well; do not stop suddenly without asking your doctor
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Take it as soon as you remember on the same day
- If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue as usual
- Do not take double dose to make up for a missed one
STORAGE
- Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
- Keep in original packaging until use
- Keep out of reach of children
- Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
- Are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding
- Have active liver disease
- Are allergic to Ramipril, Atorvastatin, or other similar medicines
- Have a history of angioedema with ACE inhibitors
- Have severe kidney artery narrowing

- Have kidney or liver disease
- Have diabetes
- Have low blood pressure or are on diuretics
- Drink alcohol regularly
- Are scheduled for surgery or anesthesia soon
- Have a history of muscle disorders
