Uses and Benefits of CLEXANE 20MG INJECTION (ENOXAPARIN 20MG)
Enoxaparin is used to prevent and treat conditions related to abnormal blood clotting.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Prevention of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) after surgery, especially hip or knee replacement
- Prevention of blood clots in patients who are bedridden due to illness
- Treatment of existing deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism
- Prevention of clotting during dialysis
- Used along with other medicines in certain heart conditions like unstable angina and heart attack
HOW IT WORKS
- It works by blocking certain clotting factors in the blood, particularly Factor Xa
- This reduces the blood's ability to form clots
- It helps prevent existing clots from getting bigger
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- It is not a painkiller and does not treat pain directly
- It is not used for routine minor injuries or bruises
- It is not a substitute for other emergency treatments in stroke or major bleeding
- It should not be used casually without medical supervision, as it affects blood clotting throughout the body

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS
- Pain, redness, or bruising at the injection site
- Minor bleeding, such as bleeding gums or nosebleeds
- Mild swelling at the injection site
LESS COMMON SIDE EFFECTS
- Low platelet count noticed on blood tests
- Skin rash or itching
- Elevated liver enzymes seen on blood tests
SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY
- Unusual or heavy bleeding, including blood in urine or stools
- Sudden severe headache, weakness, or vision changes (signs of bleeding in the brain)
- Signs of allergic reaction such as difficulty breathing, swelling of face or throat
- Severe pain, numbness, or weakness in the back or legs (possible spinal bleeding, especially after spinal procedures)
- Unexplained bruising spreading over the body

How to Use CLEXANE 20MG INJECTION (ENOXAPARIN 20MG)
HOW TO TAKE IT
- This medicine is given as an injection under the skin (subcutaneous), usually in the abdomen
- It is often given by a nurse or trained healthcare worker, though some patients are taught to self-inject
- Use exactly as prescribed by your doctor, at the same time each day if possible
- Do not rub the injection site after administering
- Rotate injection sites as advised to avoid skin damage
- Do not stop this medicine suddenly without talking to your doctor
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Contact your doctor or nurse as soon as possible for guidance
- Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one
- Follow your doctor's instructions on rescheduling the next dose
STORAGE
- Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, as per the product label
- Keep out of reach of children
- Do not use if the syringe or solution looks discoloured or has particles in it
- Dispose of used syringes safely as guided by your pharmacist

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
- Have a known allergy to enoxaparin, heparin, or pork products (as it is derived from pork)
- Have active major bleeding or a bleeding disorder
- Have a history of low platelet count caused by heparin
- Are advised against it due to a recent brain or spinal surgery or bleeding in the brain
TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU
- Have kidney problems, as dose may need adjustment
- Have liver disease
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding
- Are scheduled for spinal or epidural anaesthesia
- Have a history of stomach ulcers or bleeding problems
- Are elderly, as bleeding risk may be higher
- Have high blood pressure that is not well controlled

- Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like ibuprofen
