Enoxaparin is used to prevent and treat conditions related to abnormal blood clotting.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Prevention of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) after surgery, especially hip or knee replacement
• Prevention of blood clots in patients who are bedridden due to illness
• Treatment of existing deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism
• Prevention of clotting during dialysis
• Used along with other medicines in certain heart conditions like unstable angina and heart attack

HOW IT WORKS

• It works by blocking certain clotting factors in the blood, particularly Factor Xa
• This reduces the blood's ability to form clots
• It helps prevent existing clots from getting bigger

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• It is not a painkiller and does not treat pain directly
• It is not used for routine minor injuries or bruises
• It is not a substitute for other emergency treatments in stroke or major bleeding

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Severe pain, numbness, or weakness in the back or legs (possible spinal bleeding, especially after spinal procedures)
• Unexplained bruising spreading over the body

HOW TO TAKE IT

• This medicine is given as an injection under the skin (subcutaneous), usually in the abdomen

• Use exactly as prescribed by your doctor, at the same time each day if possible
• Do not rub the injection site after administering
• Rotate injection sites as advised to avoid skin damage

• Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one

STORAGE

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
