Ethambutol 200mg is used in the treatment of active tuberculosis (TB) infection, always as part of a combination regimen with other anti-TB drugs.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Treatment of pulmonary and certain extra-pulmonary tuberculosis
• Used along with other anti-TB medicines like isoniazid, rifampicin and pyrazinamide
• Helps prevent TB bacteria from becoming resistant to other drugs

HOW IT WORKS

• Stops TB bacteria from building their cell wall properly
• This slows down and prevents further multiplication of the bacteria
• Works best when combined with other TB medicines, not alone

• Not used for viral infections like cold or flu

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once daily
• Can be taken with or without food, but take at the same time each day
• Swallow the tablet with water; do not crush unless advised
• Take along with other anti-TB medicines as instructed, do not skip any of them
• Complete the full course even if you feel better, stopping early can cause drug-resistant TB

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember on the same day
• If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one
• Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed one
• Try to maintain a regular daily schedule to avoid missing doses

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture

• Keep out of reach and sight of children
