Uses and Benefits of CONVIRON FORTE CAPSULE (ASCORBIC + CYANOCO + FERRSUL + FOLIC + PYRIDO)

This medicine is mainly used to treat and prevent iron-deficiency anaemia along with associated deficiencies of Vitamin B12, Folic Acid, Vitamin B6, and Vitamin C.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Iron-deficiency anaemia
• Nutritional deficiency during pregnancy and breastfeeding
• Poor diet or increased body demand for iron and vitamins
• Recovery after heavy blood loss or surgery
• General weakness caused by low haemoglobin

HOW IT WORKS

• Ferrous Sulphate supplies iron needed to make haemoglobin in red blood cells
• Folic Acid and Vitamin B12 help in the formation and maturation of new red blood cells
• Vitamin B6 supports normal red blood cell metabolism
• Vitamin C improves absorption of iron from the gut

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• It is not a painkiller and does not treat pain or fever
• It does not treat infections
• It is not a substitute for a balanced diet
• It should not be used to treat anaemia caused by conditions other than nutritional deficiency without doctor's advice

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Nausea
• Constipation
• Stomach upset
• Dark or black coloured stools (harmless, due to iron)

LESS COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Diarrhoea
• Heartburn
• Metallic taste in mouth
• Loss of appetite

SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY

• Signs of allergic reaction such as rash, itching, swelling of face or throat
• Severe stomach pain
• Difficulty breathing
• Vomiting blood or black tarry stools that are unusual in amount
• Signs of iron overload such as joint pain, fatigue with skin darkening (with prolonged high use)

How to Use CONVIRON FORTE CAPSULE (ASCORBIC + CYANOCO + FERRSUL + FOLIC + PYRIDO)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor
• Usually taken once daily, preferably after food to reduce stomach upset
• Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew unless advised
• Avoid taking with tea, coffee, or milk as they can reduce iron absorption
• Take at the same time every day for best results

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one
• Do not take double dose to make up for a missed one

STORAGE

• Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight
• Keep away from moisture
• Keep out of reach and sight of children
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Are allergic to any of its ingredients
• Have a condition causing iron overload, such as haemochromatosis or haemosiderosis
• Have been told by your doctor that you have a type of anaemia not caused by deficiency

TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU

• Have peptic ulcer, ulcerative colitis, or other digestive disorders
• Have liver or kidney disease
• Are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding
• Are taking any other vitamin or mineral supplements
• Have a history of blood transfusions or blood disorders

MEDICINES THAT CAN INTERACT

• Antibiotics such as tetracyclines and fluoroquinolones
• Antacids and medicines for acidity
• Levodopa used for Parkinson's disease
• Medicines for hypothyroidism
• Calcium supplements
