Losartan Potassium is commonly prescribed to manage high blood pressure (hypertension) and related conditions.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Treating high blood pressure
• Reducing the risk of stroke in people with high blood pressure and heart enlargement
• Protecting kidneys in people with type 2 diabetes and kidney disease
• Sometimes used to support treatment of heart failure, as advised by a doctor

HOW IT WORKS

• Blocks the action of a natural chemical called angiotensin II
• This chemical normally causes blood vessels to narrow
• By blocking it, blood vessels relax and widen
• This lowers blood pressure and reduces strain on the heart and kidneys

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not a painkiller or fever medicine
• Not used for immediate emergency lowering of blood pressure
• Not a treatment for infections

How to Use COVANCE D TABLET (LOSARTAN POTASSIUM)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once a day
• Can be taken with or without food
• Swallow the tablet with water; do not crush unless advised
• Try to take it at the same time each day for consistent effect
• Continue taking it even if you feel well, as it controls but does not cure high blood pressure

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one
• If you miss doses often, tell your doctor

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep out of reach of children
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Potassium-sparing diuretics or potassium supplements
• Lithium
• Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like ibuprofen
• Certain diabetes medicines
