Uses and Benefits of CYCLOPENT EYE DROP (CYCLOPENTOLATE 1%)
Cyclopentolate 1% is used to dilate the pupil and temporarily relax the eye's focusing muscle for examination or treatment purposes.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- To dilate the pupil before eye examinations
- To help doctors examine the retina and back of the eye clearly
- To measure eye power accurately in children and adults (refraction test)
- To treat certain types of eye inflammation (uveitis/iritis) as advised by a doctor
HOW IT WORKS
- It blocks certain nerve signals in the eye muscles
- This relaxes the muscle that controls pupil size, causing the pupil to widen
- It also temporarily stops the eye's ability to auto-focus, which helps in eye testing
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- It is not a treatment for glaucoma
- It is not used to treat eye infections

How to Use CYCLOPENT EYE DROP (CYCLOPENTOLATE 1%)
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Use only as directed by your eye doctor, usually as one or two drops in the affected eye(s)
- Wash your hands before using the drops
- Tilt your head back and gently pull down the lower eyelid to form a small pocket
- Place the drop inside without touching the dropper tip to your eye or eyelid
- Close your eyes gently for a minute and press lightly near the inner corner to reduce absorption into the body
- Do not drive or do close work like reading until your vision returns to normal
- Wear sunglasses if your eyes feel sensitive to light after the drops
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- This medicine is usually given under supervision for a specific procedure, so missed doses are uncommon
- If it is part of an ongoing treatment and you miss a dose, contact your doctor for advice rather than doubling up
STORAGE
- Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and heat
- Keep the bottle tightly closed and away from children
- Do not use after the expiry date printed on the label
- Discard the bottle if the solution changes colour or becomes cloudy
