Uses and Benefits of CYSTOPEN CAPSULE (PENTOSAN POLYSULFATE SODIUM 100MG.)
Pentosan Polysulfate Sodium is used to treat a chronic bladder condition called interstitial cystitis, which causes bladder pain, pressure and frequent urination.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Relief of bladder pain and discomfort due to interstitial cystitis (painful bladder syndrome)
- Long-term management of urinary urgency and frequency linked to this condition
HOW IT WORKS
- It is thought to help repair and protect the inner lining of the bladder wall (the glycosaminoglycan layer)
- This reduces irritation caused by urine coming into contact with the damaged bladder lining
- Improvement usually takes several weeks to months of regular use
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- It is not a painkiller for general pain and should not be used for headache, body ache, or fever
- It does not treat urinary tract infections caused by bacteria
- It is not used for kidney stones or general urinary incontinence
- It should not be used as a blood thinner even though it has mild anticoagulant-like effects

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

LESS COMMON SIDE EFFECTS
- Dizziness

- Abnormal liver enzyme levels seen on blood tests
- Abdominal pain
SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY
- Unusual bleeding or bruising (nosebleeds, blood in urine or stools)
- Vision changes or difficulty seeing clearly (rare eye changes reported with long-term use)
- Signs of liver problems such as yellowing of skin or eyes, dark urine, severe tiredness
- Severe allergic reaction with swelling of face, lips, throat, or difficulty breathing
- Severe chest pain or unusual heartbeat

How to Use CYSTOPEN CAPSULE (PENTOSAN POLYSULFATE SODIUM 100MG.)
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually with a full glass of water
- It is generally advised to take it on an empty stomach, at least one hour before or two hours after food, unless your doctor tells you otherwise
- Swallow the capsule whole; do not crush or chew it
- Continue taking it regularly even if you do not notice immediate improvement, as benefit may take weeks to months
- Do not stop the medicine suddenly without talking to your doctor
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Take it as soon as you remember
- If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue your normal schedule
- Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one
STORAGE
- Store at room temperature, away from direct heat, light and moisture
- Keep in the original packaging until ready to use
- Keep out of reach of children and pets
- Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
- Are allergic to pentosan polysulfate sodium or any other ingredient in the capsule
- Have a bleeding disorder or active bleeding
- Are scheduled for surgery in the near future without informing your doctor

- Have liver or kidney disease
- Have a history of bleeding problems, ulcers, or blood clotting disorders
- Are taking blood thinners or aspirin regularly
- Are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding

MEDICINES THAT CAN INTERACT
- Blood thinners such as warfarin or heparin
