Uses and Benefits of CYTOGARD OD 60MG CAPSULE (TRIMETAZIDINE (60MG))
Trimetazidine (60mg) is used mainly to manage chest pain (angina) caused by reduced blood flow to the heart.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Long-term treatment of stable angina (chest pain due to coronary artery disease)
- Used as an add-on therapy along with other heart medicines when they are not fully controlling symptoms
- Sometimes used to help improve exercise tolerance in people with angina
HOW IT WORKS
- It helps heart muscle cells use oxygen and energy more efficiently during periods of reduced blood supply
- It does not widen blood vessels or lower blood pressure or heart rate like other anti-anginal drugs
- This protective action on heart cells helps reduce the frequency of angina episodes
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Not used for immediate relief of an ongoing angina attack
- Not a substitute for emergency treatment of a heart attack
- Not used to treat high blood pressure directly
- Not recommended for movement disorders like tremors or Parkinson's disease-like symptoms
