Uses and Benefits of DAPATURN-S 50/10MG TABLET (DAPAGLIFLOZIN 10MG + SITAGLIPTIN 50MG)

This combination medicine is used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults who need better blood sugar control.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• To lower high blood sugar levels in type 2 diabetes
• Used along with diet and exercise for better glucose control
• Sometimes added when a single diabetes medicine is not enough

HOW IT WORKS

• Dapagliflozin blocks sugar reabsorption in the kidneys, so extra sugar passes out in urine
• Sitagliptin increases natural hormones (incretins) that help the pancreas release insulin after meals and reduce sugar production by the liver
• Together they lower blood sugar through two different actions

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not used for type 1 diabetes
• Not used for diabetic ketoacidosis
• Not a treatment for weight loss, though some weight change may occur
• Not meant for emergency lowering of very high blood sugar

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Urinary tract infection

LESS COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Dizziness
• Dry mouth or thirst
• Constipation or diarrhoea
• Low blood pressure symptoms like feeling faint on standing

SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY

• Signs of ketoacidosis such as nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, tiredness, and breathing difficulty even with normal blood sugar
• Severe urinary or genital infection with fever
• Signs of dehydration or kidney problems such as reduced urination
• Severe joint pain
• Signs of pancreatitis such as severe stomach pain spreading to the back, with vomiting
• Allergic reactions like rash, swelling of face/lips, or difficulty breathing
• Signs of low blood sugar such as sweating, shakiness, confusion (especially if combined with other diabetes medicines)

How to Use DAPATURN-S 50/10MG TABLET (DAPAGLIFLOZIN 10MG + SITAGLIPTIN 50MG)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once daily in the morning
• Can be taken with or without food, unless your doctor advises otherwise
• Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew unless instructed
• Drink adequate water during the day unless your doctor has restricted fluids
• Do not stop or change the dose without consulting your doctor
• Continue diet, exercise and regular blood sugar monitoring as advised

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember on the same day
• If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and continue as usual
• Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed one

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct heat, light and moisture
• Keep in the original pack until ready to use
• Keep out of reach of children and pets
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Have type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis
• Have severe kidney disease or are on dialysis
• Are allergic to dapagliflozin, sitagliptin, or any ingredient of the tablet
• Have a history of pancreatitis (discuss with your doctor first)

TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU

• Have kidney or liver disease
• Have a history of urinary or genital infections
• Are prone to low blood pressure or dehydration
• Are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding
• Have a history of pancreas problems

MEDICINES THAT CAN INTERACT
