Uses and Benefits of DOMSTAL SUSPENSION (Domperidone 1mg/ml)
Domperidone is mainly used to treat nausea, vomiting and uncomfortable fullness or bloating linked to slow stomach emptying and other digestive disturbances.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Relief of nausea and vomiting
- Feeling of fullness, bloating and upper abdominal discomfort after meals
- Symptoms linked to slow movement of food from the stomach
- Nausea and vomiting associated with certain digestive disorders as advised by your doctor
HOW IT WORKS
- It blocks dopamine receptors in the gut, which increases stomach and intestinal movement, helping food pass through faster
- It blocks dopamine receptors in a brain area that controls vomiting, reducing the urge to vomit
- It does not usually cross into the brain in large amounts, so it has fewer effects on brain-related dopamine functions compared to some other anti-sickness medicines
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Not used as a general painkiller
- Not used for motion sickness prevention
- Not a treatment for infections causing vomiting, such as food poisoning, on its own
- Not meant for long-term routine use without medical supervision
