This composition is mainly used for prevention of pregnancy in women who want a hormonal contraceptive option.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Prevention of pregnancy (oral contraception)
• Sometimes used to help regulate menstrual cycles as advised by a doctor

HOW IT WORKS

• Drospirenone is a progestin that stops the ovaries from releasing an egg (ovulation)
• It thickens the mucus at the entrance of the womb, making it harder for sperm to reach an egg
• It changes the lining of the uterus, making it less suitable for a fertilised egg to implant

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• It is not used to treat sexually transmitted infections and does not protect against them
• It is not an emergency contraceptive (morning-after pill)
• It is not used to treat infertility
• It should not be used as a general hormone supplement without medical advice

How to Use DROSPERT TABLET (Drospirenone (4mg))

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually one tablet at the same time every day
• Swallow with water, with or without food
• Do not skip days or change the schedule without medical advice, as this can reduce effectiveness
• Continue taking even if you have breakthrough bleeding, unless your doctor says otherwise

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take the missed tablet as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and continue as usual — do not double the dose
• Use an additional contraceptive method (like condoms) for a few days if a dose was significantly delayed or missed, and consult your doctor

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep in the original blister pack until ready to use
• Keep out of reach of children
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Are pregnant or suspect you may be pregnant
