This medicine is used for long-term management of asthma and, in some cases, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), where regular control of breathing symptoms is needed.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Long-term control of asthma symptoms
- Prevention of wheezing, breathlessness and chest tightness
- Maintenance treatment of COPD in some patients as advised by doctor
HOW IT WORKS
- Beclometasone is a steroid that reduces swelling and inflammation in the airways
- Formoterol is a long-acting bronchodilator that relaxes the muscles around the airways, keeping them open for longer
- Together they help reduce frequency of asthma attacks and improve breathing over time
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Not for immediate relief of a sudden asthma attack or sudden breathlessness
- Not a rescue inhaler; a separate fast-acting inhaler is needed for emergencies
- Not used for common cold, cough due to infection, or short-term chest congestion

HOW TO TAKE IT
- Use only by inhalation, through the mouth, as directed by your doctor
- Shake the inhaler well before each use if instructed on the device
- Breathe out gently, then inhale the dose slowly and deeply, holding breath for a few seconds
- Rinse your mouth with water after each use to reduce risk of throat irritation and oral thrush
- Use at the same times each day for best control
- Do not stop suddenly without talking to your doctor, even if you feel better
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Take it as soon as you remember
- If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one
- Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one
