This combination medicine is mainly prescribed for osteoarthritis, a joint condition causing pain, stiffness and reduced mobility.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Relief of joint pain and stiffness in osteoarthritis, especially of the knee and hip
• Long-term management of osteoarthritis symptoms along with other measures like physiotherapy and weight control
• Supporting potassium levels in the body while on diacerein therapy

HOW IT WORKS

• Diacerein reduces the action of certain inflammatory chemicals (interleukin-1) that damage cartilage in joints
• It helps slow down joint damage over time and eases pain and stiffness gradually
• Potassium chloride replenishes potassium lost through the loose motions that diacerein can cause

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• It is not a fast-acting painkiller and does not give immediate pain relief
• It is not used for rheumatoid arthritis or gout
• It is not meant for general potassium deficiency unrelated to this treatment
• It does not cure osteoarthritis, only helps manage symptoms

SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY

• Severe or persistent diarrhoea leading to dehydration
• Signs of liver problems such as yellowing of skin or eyes, dark urine, severe tiredness
• Severe allergic reaction with swelling of face, lips, throat or difficulty breathing
• Irregular heartbeat, weakness or tingling, which may indicate high potassium levels
• Severe stomach pain, black stools or vomiting blood

How to Use DURAJOINT GM TABLET (DIACEREIN 50MG + POTASSIUM CHLORIDE 750MG)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually with meals to reduce stomach upset
• Swallow the tablet or capsule whole with a glass of water; do not crush or chew unless advised
• Do not increase or decrease the dose on your own
• It may take several weeks to show noticeable benefit, so continue as advised even if you don't feel immediate relief
• Drink plenty of fluids during treatment, especially if you experience loose motions

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue your normal schedule
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep out of reach of children
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack
• Do not store in the bathroom or near the kitchen sink

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Are allergic to diacerein, potassium chloride, or any other ingredient in the tablet
• Have severe kidney disease
• Have high blood potassium levels (hyperkalaemia)
• Have a history of chronic diarrhoea or bowel obstruction

TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU

• Have liver disease or a history of liver problems
• Have kidney disease of any severity
• Are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding
• Are on any medicines that affect potassium levels
• Are elderly, as you may be more sensitive to side effects

• ACE inhibitors or ARBs used for blood pressure (can raise potassium further)
• Potassium-sparing diuretics
