Uses and Benefits of DURATAF 25MG Tablets (Durataf 25mg)

This medicine is mainly used to treat chronic Hepatitis B infection in adults.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Long-term (chronic) Hepatitis B virus infection
• Reducing viral load and liver inflammation caused by Hepatitis B
• Improving liver health markers over time with regular use

HOW IT WORKS

• It is an antiviral medicine that blocks an enzyme the hepatitis B virus needs to multiply
• By lowering the amount of virus in the blood, it helps prevent liver damage, scarring (cirrhosis), and other complications
• It does not cure hepatitis B but controls the infection with continued use

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• It is not used for Hepatitis A or C infections
• It is not a treatment for HIV on its own; different combination products are used for HIV
• It should not be stopped suddenly without medical advice, as this can cause a flare-up of hepatitis
• It is not a painkiller or general liver tonic

• Unusual muscle pain, weakness, or breathing difficulty (rare signs of a build-up of lactic acid in the body)
• Signs of an allergic reaction such as swelling of face/lips/throat, severe rash, or difficulty breathing
• Sudden worsening of hepatitis symptoms after stopping the medicine

How to Use DURATAF 25MG Tablets (Durataf 25mg)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once a day
• It is generally taken with food to help absorption, unless your doctor advises otherwise
• Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew unless your doctor says it is fine
• Take it at the same time every day to maintain a steady level in the body
• Continue taking it for as long as your doctor recommends, even if you feel well
• Do not stop this medicine on your own, as sudden stopping can cause a hepatitis flare

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take the missed dose as soon as you remember on the same day
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue your normal schedule
• Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed one
• If you miss doses often, tell your doctor so your treatment plan can be reviewed

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep in the original container, tightly closed
• Keep out of reach of children and pets
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Are allergic to tenofovir alafenamide or any ingredient in this medicine
• Are already taking other medicines containing tenofovir (to avoid duplicate dosing)
• Have been advised against it by your doctor due to kidney or bone conditions

TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU

• Have any kidney disease or reduced kidney function
• Have a history of bone problems such as osteoporosis or fractures
• Are also infected with HIV, as this needs a different treatment approach
• Are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding
• Drink alcohol regularly or have any other liver condition

• Other antiviral or HIV medicines
• Certain seizure medicines like phenytoin or carbamazepine
• Rifampicin and some other antibiotics used for tuberculosis
• St. John's Wort or other herbal supplements
