Uses and Benefits of DYTOR 40MG TABLET (Torsemide 40mg)

Torsemide 40mg is mainly used to treat fluid retention (oedema) and to help manage high blood pressure.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Swelling of legs, ankles, or abdomen due to heart failure
• Fluid retention caused by liver disease (cirrhosis)
• Fluid retention caused by kidney disease
• High blood pressure, sometimes with other medicines

HOW IT WORKS

• Acts on the kidneys to increase the amount of salt and water removed in urine
• This reduces the extra fluid in the body, lowering swelling and blood pressure
• Effect usually starts within an hour and lasts several hours

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not for weight loss purposes
• Not a painkiller and does not treat infections
• Not used for general dehydration
• Not a first-choice treatment for mild ankle swelling without a medical cause

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Increased urination
• Headache
• Dizziness
• Dry mouth or increased thirst

• Severe dizziness, fainting, or irregular heartbeat
• Signs of dehydration such as extreme thirst, dry skin, or confusion
• Very little or no urine output
• Severe muscle weakness or cramps (may indicate low potassium)
• Ringing in ears or hearing loss
• Signs of allergic reaction such as rash, swelling of face/lips, or difficulty breathing

How to Use DYTOR 40MG TABLET (Torsemide 40mg)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once a day
• Take in the morning to avoid needing to urinate at night
• Can be taken with or without food
• Swallow the tablet with water; do not crush or chew unless advised
• Do not stop taking it suddenly without talking to your doctor
• Your doctor may ask for regular blood tests to check kidney function and electrolyte levels

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember on the same day
• If it is already late in the day or close to night, skip the missed dose
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one
• Go back to your normal schedule the next day

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from heat and direct sunlight
• Keep in a dry place, away from moisture
• Keep out of reach of children and pets

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Are unable to pass urine (anuria)
• Are in a state of severe dehydration or very low blood volume
• Are allergic to torsemide or sulfonamide-related medicines
• Are in hepatic coma or severe liver failure without medical supervision

TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU

• Have kidney or liver disease
• Have diabetes or gout
• Have low blood pressure or a history of fainting
