This medicine is prescribed for conditions where the body retains excess fluid, leading to swelling and breathlessness.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Swelling (oedema) due to heart failure
• Fluid retention caused by liver disease (cirrhosis with ascites)
• Fluid retention due to kidney disease
• Managing high blood pressure in some cases, as advised by a doctor

HOW IT WORKS

• Torsemide acts on the kidneys to increase urine output, removing extra salt and water from the body
• Spironolactone blocks a hormone called aldosterone, which helps the body get rid of fluid while conserving potassium
• Together they balance fluid removal with reduced risk of low potassium levels

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• It is not a painkiller and does not treat pain or fever
• It is not used for simple, mild swelling of the feet without a diagnosed cause
• It does not cure the underlying heart, liver or kidney disease; it only manages fluid symptoms
• It should not be used for weight loss or body detox purposes

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Increased urination
• Dizziness or light-headedness
• Headache
• Nausea or stomach upset
• Tiredness

LESS COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Muscle cramps
• Dry mouth or increased thirst
• Breast tenderness or enlargement in men (due to spironolactone)
• Irregular periods in women
• Skin rash or itching

SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY

• Signs of high potassium: irregular heartbeat, muscle weakness, tingling
• Severe dizziness, fainting or very low blood pressure
• Significant decrease in urination or swelling suggesting kidney problems
• Severe skin reaction, blistering or peeling
• Yellowing of skin or eyes
• Severe dehydration: dry mouth, confusion, very low urine output

How to Use DYTOR PLUS LS TABLET (Torsemide 2.5mg + Spironolactone 25mg)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once daily in the morning to avoid night-time urination
• Swallow the tablet with a glass of water; it can be taken with or without food, unless your doctor advises otherwise
• Do not increase or decrease the dose on your own
• Have your blood pressure, kidney function and potassium levels checked periodically as advised
• Continue taking it regularly even if you feel well, unless your doctor tells you to stop

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember on the same day
• If it is already night-time or almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular schedule
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep in the original packaging until use
• Keep out of reach of children and pets
• Do not use beyond the expiry date printed on the pack

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Are allergic to torsemide, spironolactone, or sulfonamide-related drugs
• Have very high potassium levels (hyperkalaemia)
• Have severe kidney failure with little or no urine output
• Have Addison's disease (adrenal insufficiency)
• Are pregnant or breastfeeding, unless specifically advised by your doctor

TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU

• Have diabetes
• Have liver disease
• Have a history of gout
• Are on a low-salt or potassium-rich diet, or take potassium supplements
• Have low blood pressure or are prone to dizziness
• Are planning surgery in the near future

MEDICINES THAT CAN INTERACT

• ACE inhibitors or ARBs used for blood pressure (risk of high potassium)
• Other potassium supplements or potassium-sparing diuretics
• NSAIDs (pain relievers like ibuprofen) which can reduce effectiveness and affect kidneys
• Lithium
• Digoxin (heart medicine)
• Other blood pressure–lowering medicines

Alcohol can increase dizziness and lower blood pressure further, so it is best avoided.
