Uses and Benefits of ELTROXIN 125MCG TABLET (THYROXINE SODIUM 125MCG)
Thyroxine Sodium 125mcg is used to treat hypothyroidism, a condition where the thyroid gland does not produce enough thyroid hormone, leading to slowed body functions.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Treating an underactive thyroid gland (hypothyroidism)
- Managing thyroid hormone replacement after thyroid surgery or radioactive iodine treatment
- Suppressing thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) levels in certain thyroid conditions, as advised by a doctor
HOW IT WORKS
- Thyroxine Sodium replaces the natural hormone thyroxine that the thyroid gland is not producing enough of
- It helps restore normal metabolism, energy levels, and body temperature regulation
- It works by mimicking the action of the body's own thyroid hormone
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- It is not used for weight loss in people with normal thyroid function
- It is not used to treat hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid)
- It is not a painkiller or anti-inflammatory medicine
- It should not be used without a doctor's prescription and monitoring
