Thyroxine Sodium is mainly used to treat hypothyroidism, a condition where the thyroid gland does not produce enough thyroid hormone.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Treating hypothyroidism (low thyroid hormone levels)
- Managing thyroid hormone replacement after thyroid surgery or radioactive iodine treatment
- Treating certain types of goitre (enlarged thyroid)
- Used along with other treatment in some thyroid cancer patients to suppress TSH levels, as advised by your doctor
HOW IT WORKS
- Replaces the natural thyroid hormone that your body is not making enough of
- Helps restore normal metabolism, energy levels, and body functions controlled by thyroid hormone

How to Use ELTROXIN 50MCG TABLET (THYROXINE SODIUM 50MCG)
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once daily
- Take on an empty stomach, at least 30 minutes before breakfast, with a full glass of water
- Take at the same time each day for consistent absorption
- Avoid taking it together with calcium, iron supplements, or antacids; leave a gap of at least 4 hours
- Do not stop or change the dose on your own, even if you feel better
- Regular blood tests (TSH levels) are needed to check if the dose is right for you
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Take it as soon as you remember on the same day
- If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and continue your regular schedule
- Do not take double the dose to make up for a missed one
- If you miss several doses, inform your doctor

- Store at room temperature, away from heat, moisture and direct sunlight

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
- Have untreated overactive thyroid (thyrotoxicosis)
- Have untreated adrenal gland insufficiency
- Have had a recent heart attack
- Are allergic to thyroxine sodium or any ingredient in the product
TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU
- Have heart disease, high blood pressure, or irregular heartbeat
- Have diabetes, as thyroxine can affect blood sugar control
- Have osteoporosis or weak bones
