Uses and Benefits of ENCORATE 100MG INJECTION (SODIUM VALPROATE 100MG.)
Sodium Valproate is mainly used to treat epilepsy and certain mood disorders.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Controlling different types of seizures (fits) in epilepsy
- Managing manic episodes in bipolar disorder
- Preventing migraine attacks, in some cases as advised by a doctor
HOW IT WORKS
- Increases the levels of a calming brain chemical called GABA
- Reduces abnormal, excessive electrical activity in brain cells
- Helps stabilise mood and prevent extreme highs (mania)
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Not used for treating acute pain or headaches on its own
- Not a first-choice treatment during pregnancy due to safety concerns
- Not used to treat infections or fever
- Not meant for occasional or as-needed use; it works best when taken regularly as prescribed

- Severe skin rash, blistering, or swelling of face/lips/throat
- Confusion, extreme drowsiness, or loss of consciousness
- Thoughts of self-harm or worsening mood/depression

How to Use ENCORATE 100MG INJECTION (SODIUM VALPROATE 100MG.)
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually with food to reduce stomach upset
- Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew unless your doctor says it is safe to do so
- Take it at the same time(s) each day to maintain steady levels in the body
- Do not stop suddenly, even if you feel better, as this can trigger seizures
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Take the missed dose as soon as you remember
- If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue as usual
- Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one
- If you miss several doses, contact your doctor for advice
STORAGE
- Store at room temperature, away from direct heat, light and moisture
- Keep out of reach and sight of children
- Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack
- Dispose of unused or expired medicine safely, do not flush down the drain

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
- Are allergic to sodium valproate or valproic acid
- Have active liver disease
- Have a known disorder of the urea cycle
- Are pregnant or planning pregnancy, unless specifically advised by your doctor

- Have liver or kidney problems
- Have a history of blood disorders
- Are breastfeeding
- Are a woman of childbearing age, due to risks to an unborn baby
- Have a history of depression or suicidal thoughts
MEDICINES THAT CAN INTERACT
- Other anti-epileptic drugs like phenytoin, carbamazepine, or lamotrigine
- Blood thinners such as warfarin or aspirin
- Antidepressants and antipsychotic medicines
- Oral contraceptives, as effectiveness may be affected
- Any other prescription, over-the-counter, or herbal products, so inform your doctor of all medicines you take
