Entecavir 0.5mg is used mainly to treat long-term (chronic) hepatitis B virus infection affecting the liver.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Treatment of chronic hepatitis B infection in adults with active liver disease
• Sometimes used in people with hepatitis B related liver damage or cirrhosis
• Used in certain patients with HIV who also have hepatitis B, as advised by a specialist

HOW IT WORKS

• It blocks an enzyme called reverse transcriptase that the hepatitis B virus needs to multiply
• By reducing viral multiplication, it lowers the amount of virus in the blood
• This helps reduce liver inflammation and damage over time

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• It does not cure hepatitis B completely
• It is not used for hepatitis A or hepatitis C

How to Use ENTECA 0.5MG TABLET (ENTECAVIR 0.5MG)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once a day

• Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew unless advised
• Take it at the same time every day to maintain steady levels in the body
• Continue taking it for as long as your doctor recommends, even if you feel well
• Do not stop suddenly without talking to your doctor, as this can worsen hepatitis B

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take the missed dose as soon as you remember on the same day
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue as usual
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep out of reach of children
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack
