WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Respiratory tract infections such as bronchitis and sinusitis
• Skin and soft tissue infections
• Urinary tract infections
• Ear, nose and throat infections
• Other bacterial infections as decided by your doctor

HOW IT WORKS

• Faropenem belongs to a group of antibiotics called penems
• It stops bacteria from forming their outer cell wall
• Without a proper cell wall, the bacteria cannot survive and die
• This helps clear the infection and relieve symptoms like fever and pain

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Viral infections such as common cold, flu or most sore throats
• Fungal infections
• As a painkiller or fever reducer on its own

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually with a glass of water

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Are allergic to faropenem or other penem/beta-lactam antibiotics such as penicillins or cephalosporins

• Have kidney disease
