Cefixime is used to treat infections caused by susceptible bacteria in different parts of the body.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Respiratory tract infections like bronchitis and pharyngitis
• Ear infections such as otitis media
• Urinary tract infections
• Throat and tonsil infections
• Typhoid fever caused by susceptible bacteria

HOW IT WORKS

• Cefixime belongs to a group of antibiotics called cephalosporins
• It stops bacteria from building their protective outer wall
• Without this wall, the bacteria cannot survive and the infection is controlled

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• It does not work against viral infections like cold, flu, or most sore throats
• It is not effective against fungal infections
• It should not be used to self-treat fever without knowing the cause
• It is not a painkiller and does not directly reduce pain or inflammation

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, at the correct dose and frequency
• Can be taken with or without food, but taking it with food may reduce stomach upset
• Swallow tablets with a glass of water
• If using the liquid form, shake well and use the measuring cup or spoon provided
• Complete the full course of treatment even if symptoms improve earlier
• Do not stop the medicine on your own without consulting your doctor

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take the missed dose as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and continue as usual
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep the liquid suspension in a cool place, and discard any unused portion after the period mentioned on the label
• Keep out of reach of children
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack
