Uses and Benefits of FLURISH TABLET (IBANDRONIC ACID 150MG)

Ibandronic Acid 150mg is mainly used to treat osteoporosis, a condition where bones become weak and fragile, increasing the risk of fractures.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women
• Prevention of fractures, especially in the spine
• Managing bone loss due to reduced bone density

HOW IT WORKS

• Belongs to a class of medicines called bisphosphonates
• Slows down the activity of cells that break down bone tissue (osteoclasts)
• Helps maintain or increase bone mineral density over time
• Reduces the risk of fractures with regular, correct use

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not used for immediate pain relief
• Not a treatment for muscle or joint pain unrelated to bone density
• Not used for calcium deficiency alone without bone density issues
• Not meant for children or for men with certain bone conditions unless specifically advised by a doctor
• Not a substitute for calcium and vitamin D supplementation, which is usually needed alongside this medicine

SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY

• Severe pain in jaw, teeth, or gums (may indicate jaw bone problems)
• Unusual thigh, hip, or groin pain (possible sign of unusual fracture)
• Difficulty or pain while swallowing, chest pain, or severe heartburn
• Signs of allergic reaction such as swelling of face, lips, throat, or difficulty breathing
• Severe skin reactions with blistering or peeling
• Eye pain, redness, or vision changes

How to Use FLURISH TABLET (IBANDRONIC ACID 150MG)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once a month
• Swallow the tablet whole with a full glass of plain water, first thing in the morning
• Do not lie down for at least one hour after taking it
• Take it on an empty stomach, at least 30-60 minutes before any food, drink (other than plain water), or other medicines
• Sit or stand upright while taking the tablet and afterwards
• Do not chew or crush the tablet

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• If you miss your monthly dose, take it the next morning after you remember, unless your next scheduled dose is within a week
• Do not take two doses close together
• Return to your original monthly schedule after the missed dose
• Contact your doctor or pharmacist if unsure what to do

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct heat and sunlight
• Keep in its original packaging until ready to use
• Keep out of reach of children
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Are allergic to ibandronic acid or any other bisphosphonate
• Have low blood calcium levels that have not been corrected
• Have certain oesophagus problems that delay swallowing
• Cannot stand or sit upright for at least one hour

TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU

• Have kidney problems
• Have dental issues or need dental surgery soon
• Are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding
• Have a history of swallowing difficulties or digestive tract disorders
• Have low levels of calcium or vitamin D

MEDICINES THAT CAN INTERACT

• Calcium, iron, magnesium, or aluminium-containing supplements or antacids
• Aspirin or other NSAIDs (may increase stomach irritation)
• Other bisphosphonates
• Any other prescription or over-the-counter medicine, so inform your doctor about all medicines you take
