Gemifloxacin 320 mg is prescribed to treat bacterial infections, particularly of the lungs and respiratory tract.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Community-acquired pneumonia
• Acute bacterial worsening of chronic bronchitis
• Other bacterial infections as determined by your doctor

HOW IT WORKS

• It stops bacteria from copying their genetic material
• This prevents the bacteria from multiplying and spreading
• The body's immune system then clears the remaining infection

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Viral infections like common cold or flu
• Fungal infections
• Infections not confirmed or suspected to be bacterial
• Self-treatment without doctor's advice, as inappropriate use can lead to antibiotic resistance

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Nausea

• Signs of allergic reaction such as swelling of face/lips/throat, severe rash, or difficulty breathing
• Severe or persistent diarrhoea with blood
• Numbness, tingling, or weakness in limbs
• Irregular heartbeat or palpitations
• Sudden mood changes, confusion, or seizures
• Yellowing of skin or eyes

How to Use G-CIN TABLET (GEMIFLOXACIN 320 MG)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once a day
• Can be taken with or without food
• Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew unless advised
• Complete the full course even if you feel better before finishing it
• Take at the same time each day to maintain consistent levels in the body

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one
• Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep out of reach of children
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack
• Do not store in the bathroom or near a sink

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Are allergic to gemifloxacin or other fluoroquinolone antibiotics
• Have a history of tendon problems linked to fluoroquinolone use
• Are a child or adolescent, unless specifically advised by a doctor

TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU

• Have kidney disease
• Have a history of seizures or epilepsy
• Have heart rhythm problems or take medicines that affect heart rhythm
• Are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding
• Have diabetes
• Are elderly, as risk of tendon problems may be higher

• Antacids, iron, or calcium/zinc supplements (space out timing)
• Blood thinners like warfarin
• Other medicines affecting heart rhythm
• Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)
• Oral diabetes medicines or insulin
