This medicine is used to treat bacterial infections affecting the eye.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Bacterial conjunctivitis (infection of the outer eye and inner eyelid)
- Other bacterial infections of the surface of the eye as diagnosed by an eye specialist
- Prevention of eye infection before or after certain eye procedures, if advised by the doctor
HOW IT WORKS
- Gatifloxacin belongs to the fluoroquinolone class of antibiotics
- It works by stopping bacteria from copying their DNA, which prevents them from multiplying
- This helps the body's immune system clear the existing infection
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- It does not treat viral eye infections such as those causing common red eye from cold or flu
- It does not treat fungal eye infections
- It should not be used for allergic conjunctivitis or dry eyes
- It is not a treatment for glaucoma or other non-infective eye conditions

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS
- Mild burning or stinging in the eye after applying the drop
- Temporary blurred vision right after instillation
- Watering of the eye
- Mild eye discomfort or irritation
LESS COMMON SIDE EFFECTS
- Redness of the eye
- Itching around the eye
- Dryness or a feeling of something in the eye
- Headache
- Unusual taste in the mouth after using the drops
SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY
- Severe eye pain or worsening redness
- Sudden decrease in vision
- Swelling of the eyelids, face, lips or tongue
- Signs of a severe allergic reaction such as difficulty breathing or rash
- Eye discharge that increases or changes colour despite treatment

How to Use GATIBLU 0.003 DROP (GATIFLOXACIN 0.3% W/V)
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Use only as prescribed by your doctor, in the affected eye(s)
- Wash your hands before using the drops
- Tilt your head back, pull down the lower eyelid gently and place the drop inside without touching the dropper tip to the eye or eyelid
- Close your eye gently for a minute after instilling the drop
- If using more than one type of eye drop, wait at least five minutes between different medicines
- Avoid wearing contact lenses while being treated unless your doctor allows it
- Do not stop the drops early even if symptoms improve, unless your doctor tells you to
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Apply the missed drop as soon as you remember
- If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and continue as scheduled
- Do not apply two drops together to make up for a missed dose
STORAGE
- Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
- Keep the bottle tightly closed when not in use
- Discard the bottle after the period advised on the label once opened
- Keep out of reach of children
