Uses and Benefits of GATIBLU D 0.003 DROP (DEXAMETHASONE 0.1% W/W + GATIFLOXACIN 0.3% W/W)

This medicine is used to treat bacterial infections of the eye that are accompanied by inflammation, such as conjunctivitis, and to control inflammation after eye surgery.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Bacterial infections of the eye with associated inflammation
• Post-operative inflammation and infection prevention after eye surgery
• Conditions where both infection control and inflammation reduction are needed together

HOW IT WORKS

• Gatifloxacin is an antibiotic that stops bacteria from multiplying and clears the infection
• Dexamethasone is a steroid that reduces swelling, redness, and irritation in the eye
• Together they treat the infection while calming the inflammation it causes

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Viral eye infections such as common viral conjunctivitis
• Fungal eye infections
• Eye injuries with unremoved foreign material
• Glaucoma or other eye conditions not related to infection and inflammation
• General eye dryness or allergy without infection

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Temporary burning or stinging after application
• Mild eye irritation
• Watering of the eyes
• Blurred vision for a short time after use

LESS COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Itching around the eye
• Dryness of the eye
• Sensitivity to light
• Headache

SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY

• Severe eye pain or worsening redness
• Sudden decrease or loss of vision
• Increased pressure in the eye (may cause eye ache or halos around lights)
• Signs of allergic reaction such as swelling of eyelids, rash, or difficulty breathing
• Non-healing eye ulcer or worsening infection despite treatment

How to Use GATIBLU D 0.003 DROP (DEXAMETHASONE 0.1% W/W + GATIFLOXACIN 0.3% W/W)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Use only in the eye, exactly as prescribed by your doctor
• Wash your hands before applying the drop or ointment
• Tilt your head back, pull down the lower eyelid, and place the drop or a small amount of ointment inside
• Avoid touching the tip of the bottle or tube to your eye or any surface
• Close your eye gently for a minute after application and avoid blinking rapidly
• If using other eye drops, wait at least 5-10 minutes between different medicines
• Do not stop use early even if symptoms improve, unless your doctor advises so

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Apply it as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and continue your normal schedule
• Do not apply extra to make up for a missed dose

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and heat
• Keep the cap tightly closed when not in use
• Do not use after the expiry date or beyond the recommended period after opening
• Keep out of reach of children

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Are allergic to dexamethasone, gatifloxacin, quinolone antibiotics, or any ingredient in this product
• Have a viral, fungal, or untreated eye infection
• Have active herpes infection of the eye

TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU

• Have glaucoma or a history of high eye pressure
• Have had cataract surgery or other recent eye surgery
• Wear contact lenses
• Are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding
• Have a weakened immune system or diabetes
• Have had a corneal injury or ulcer

MEDICINES THAT CAN INTERACT

• Other steroid eye preparations, which may increase side effects
• Other antibiotic eye drops, only if advised by your doctor
• Any other eye medicine, as spacing between doses matters
