WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• High prolactin levels causing irregular periods, infertility, or breast milk discharge not related to childbirth
• Prolactin-secreting pituitary tumours (prolactinomas)
• Parkinson's disease, as an add-on treatment
• Acromegaly (excess growth hormone), in some cases
• Stopping unwanted breast milk production when medically necessary

HOW IT WORKS

• It acts on dopamine receptors in the brain
• This lowers the release of prolactin hormone from the pituitary gland
• In Parkinson's disease, it stimulates dopamine receptors to help improve movement symptoms

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• It is not a painkiller
• It is not used for routine infertility unrelated to high prolactin

HOW TO TAKE IT
