This medicine combination is mainly used to treat dry, irritating cough along with allergy-type symptoms such as sneezing and watery eyes, often during common cold or upper respiratory infections.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Relief of dry, non-productive cough
• Relief of associated allergy symptoms like sneezing, runny nose and watery eyes
• Short-term symptomatic relief during cold or upper respiratory tract infection

HOW IT WORKS

• Codeine phosphate acts on the cough centre in the brain to reduce the urge to cough
• Chlorpheniramine maleate blocks histamine, a chemical that causes allergy symptoms and irritation
• Together they reduce cough frequency and calm associated allergic irritation

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not meant for wet or productive cough with heavy mucus
• Not a treatment for bacterial or viral infections themselves
• Not to be used for long-term or chronic cough without medical evaluation
• Not suitable for children below the age advised by your doctor

• Difficulty breathing or slow, shallow breathing
• Severe drowsiness or difficulty waking up
• Irregular heartbeat
• Signs of allergic reaction such as swelling of face, lips or throat, or severe skin rash
• Severe constipation or abdominal pain

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, in the dose and frequency advised
• May be taken with or without food, but taking with food can reduce stomach upset
• Use a proper measuring cup or spoon if it is a syrup, not a regular household spoon
• Do not take more than the prescribed amount or for longer than advised
• Avoid alcohol while taking this medicine as it increases drowsiness

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and continue your normal schedule
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep the bottle tightly closed
• Keep out of reach and sight of children
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Are allergic to codeine, chlorpheniramine or any other ingredient in the product
• Have severe breathing problems or asthma attack in progress
• Have a history of paralytic ileus (blocked bowel)
• Are a child below the age recommended by your doctor
