Uses and Benefits of HYVISC EYE DROP (SODIUM HYALURONATE 1%)
Sodium Hyaluronate 1% is mainly used to treat dryness, irritation and discomfort of the eyes, and to support the eye during certain surgical procedures.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Relief of dry, irritated or tired eyes
- Lubrication after eye surgery or injury
- Protection of the eye surface during cataract, corneal or other intraocular surgery
- Comfort in conditions causing reduced tear production
HOW IT WORKS
- Sodium hyaluronate holds moisture on the eye surface, forming a smooth, protective film
- It reduces friction between the eyelid and eyeball, easing irritation
- During surgery, its gel-like consistency helps maintain space and protect delicate eye tissues
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Not used to treat eye infections
- Not a treatment for glaucoma or eye pressure problems
- Not meant for red eyes caused by allergy unless advised by a doctor
- Not used for skin conditions or joint pain (different formulations exist for those uses, and this information does not cover them)

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

- Severe eye pain
- Sudden loss of or major change in vision
- Signs of infection such as thick discharge, worsening redness or swelling
- Severe allergic reaction with swelling of eyelids, face, or difficulty breathing

How to Use HYVISC EYE DROP (SODIUM HYALURONATE 1%)
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Use only as prescribed by your doctor
- Wash your hands before using the eye drops
- Tilt your head back, pull down the lower eyelid gently, and place the drop inside without touching the dropper tip to the eye
- Close your eyes gently for a minute after applying
- If using more than one type of eye drop, wait at least 5-10 minutes between different drops
- Do not rub your eyes after application
- For surgical use, this will be administered by your eye surgeon only
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Apply it as soon as you remember
- If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and continue as usual
- Do not use a double amount to make up for a missed dose
STORAGE
- Store as directed on the label, usually at room temperature away from direct sunlight and heat
- Keep the cap tightly closed when not in use
- Do not use after the bottle has been opened for the period mentioned on the label, even if drops remain
- Keep out of reach of children

This composition is available both as an over-the-counter lubricating eye drop and as a prescription-only product for surgical use; the injectable/surgical form must only be used under medical supervision in a hospital setting.
DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
- Are allergic to sodium hyaluronate or any ingredient in the product
- Have an active, untreated eye infection (unless your doctor advises otherwise)
TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU
- Wear contact lenses
- Have a history of eye allergies or chronic eye conditions
- Are using other eye drops or eye medicines
- Are scheduled for eye surgery and are on blood thinners or other regular medicines
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding
MEDICINES THAT CAN INTERACT
- Other eye drops, especially those containing preservatives, may reduce effectiveness if used together without spacing them out
- Inform your doctor of all eye medicines and general medicines you are using before any eye surgery
