Uses and Benefits of IMALEK 100MG TABLET (IMATINIB MESYLATE 100MG.)

This medicine is used to treat certain cancers, especially Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia (CML) and some gastrointestinal tumours (GIST), as well as a few other rare cancers.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia (CML)
• Certain types of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL)
• Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumours (GIST)
• Certain other rare tumours as advised by an oncologist

HOW IT WORKS

• Blocks a specific abnormal enzyme (tyrosine kinase) produced by cancer cells
• Stops the signal that tells cancer cells to grow and divide
• Helps slow down or stop the progress of the disease

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not used for general infections or fever
• Not a painkiller
• Not used for cancers other than those specifically diagnosed and confirmed by your doctor
• Not for use without a confirmed diagnosis and prescription

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Nausea and vomiting

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once a day
• Take with food and a large glass of water to reduce stomach upset
• Swallow the tablet whole; do not crush or chew unless advised
• Do not stop taking it suddenly without consulting your doctor
• Take at the same time each day for best results

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember on the same day
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one
• Contact your doctor if you miss doses frequently

STORAGE
