Uses and Benefits of IVERMECTOL 3MG TABLET (IVERMECTIN 3MG)

Ivermectin is mainly used to treat infections caused by parasitic worms and certain skin conditions caused by mites.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Treatment of intestinal worm infections such as strongyloidiasis
• Treatment of onchocerciasis (river blindness) caused by parasitic worms
• Treatment of scabies (skin infestation caused by mites) in some cases
• Sometimes used for other parasitic infections as directed by the doctor

HOW IT WORKS

• Ivermectin binds to certain channels in the nerve and muscle cells of parasites
• This causes paralysis and death of the parasite, clearing the infection
• It does not have significant action on human nerve cells at normal doses

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• It is not used for viral infections such as common cold or flu
• It is not a treatment for bacterial infections
• It should not be used as a general health supplement or preventive tonic
• It is not proven or approved for treating COVID-19

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, in the dose and duration advised
• Usually taken on an empty stomach with a full glass of water, unless your doctor says otherwise
• Swallow the tablet whole; do not crush or chew unless advised
• Complete the full course even if you feel better
• Follow up with your doctor for repeat doses if advised, as some infections need more than one dose

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Since this medicine is often given as a single or occasional dose, contact your doctor for guidance if you miss it
• Do not take an extra dose to make up for a missed one
• If you are on a multi-dose course, take the missed dose as soon as you remember unless it is close to the next dose

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep out of reach of children and pets
• Do not store in the bathroom or near the kitchen sink
• Discard any unused or expired medicine safely
