Finerenone Micronized 10 mg is prescribed for people with chronic kidney disease occurring along with type 2 diabetes, to help slow down worsening of kidney function and reduce the risk of heart-related complications.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Slowing progression of chronic kidney disease in type 2 diabetes patients
• Reducing risk of kidney failure in eligible patients
• Lowering risk of heart-related events such as hospitalization for heart failure in these patients

HOW IT WORKS

• Blocks the mineralocorticoid receptor that is overactivated in kidney and heart tissue
• Reduces inflammation and scarring (fibrosis) in the kidneys caused by this overactivation
• Helps protect kidney function over time when used along with other standard treatments

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not used for type 1 diabetes
• Not a treatment for acute kidney injury
• Not used as a first-line blood pressure or diabetes medicine
• Not a substitute for insulin or other diabetes medicines

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Signs of very high potassium such as muscle weakness, irregular heartbeat, or tingling sensations
• Severe allergic reaction with swelling of face, lips, or throat, or difficulty breathing
• Sudden decrease in urine output or worsening kidney function symptoms
• Fainting or severe dizziness due to very low blood pressure

How to Use KERENDIA 10MG TABLET (FINERENONE MICRONIZED 10 MG)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once a day
• Can be taken with or without food
• Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew unless your doctor advises otherwise
• Do not stop the medicine suddenly without consulting your doctor, even if you feel fine
• Continue regular blood tests for potassium and kidney function as advised

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember on the same day
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one
• Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed one

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
