Lacosamide is used mainly to treat epilepsy in adults and children as advised by a neurologist.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Partial-onset (focal) seizures, either alone or along with other anti-epileptic medicines
• As an add-on treatment when seizures are not fully controlled by other medicines

HOW IT WORKS

• It acts on sodium channels in nerve cells in the brain
• It slowly reduces the excessive electrical activity that causes seizures
• This helps prevent or reduce the frequency of seizures

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• It is not a painkiller and should not be used for ordinary headaches or body pain
• It is not used to treat anxiety or sleep problems
• It is not a first-choice treatment for absence seizures

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once or twice a day

• Do not increase or decrease the dose on your own
• Continue taking it regularly even if you feel well; do not stop suddenly

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember on the same day
• If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and continue your normal schedule
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one
• If you miss several doses, contact your doctor before restarting

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep out of reach of children and pets
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack
• Do not store in the bathroom or near a sink
