Uses and Benefits of LOBATE-GN SKIN CREAM (CLOBETASOL (0.05% W/W) + NEOMYCIN (0.5% W/W))

This medicine is used for skin conditions where inflammation is combined with, or at risk of, bacterial infection.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Treating severe inflammatory skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis
• Managing skin allergies and dermatitis with bacterial infection risk
• Reducing redness, itching, swelling and irritation of the skin
• Treating infected patches of skin along with inflammation

HOW IT WORKS

• Clobetasol is a strong steroid that reduces inflammation, redness, itching and swelling by acting on skin cells
• Neomycin is an antibiotic that kills or stops growth of bacteria that may infect the affected skin
• Together they treat both the inflammation and the infection at the site of application

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not used for viral skin infections like chickenpox or herpes
• Not used for fungal infections alone
• Not used for acne
• Not used on normal, unaffected skin
• Not used for long-term routine skin care

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Burning or stinging sensation at application site
• Itching
• Dryness of skin
• Redness

LESS COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Thinning of skin with prolonged use
• Skin discoloration
• Small visible blood vessels on skin
• Increased hair growth at the site

SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY

• Severe allergic reaction with rash, swelling of face or breathing difficulty
• Signs of skin infection worsening despite treatment
• Stretch marks or severe thinning of skin
• Signs of absorption into the body such as unusual weight gain, weakness, or vision changes with prolonged use

How to Use LOBATE-GN SKIN CREAM (CLOBETASOL (0.05% W/W) + NEOMYCIN (0.5% W/W))

HOW TO TAKE IT

• For external use on skin only, not to be taken by mouth
• Wash and dry the affected area gently before application
• Apply a thin layer as prescribed by your doctor, usually once or twice a day
• Rub in gently and wash your hands after application unless hands are the treated area
• Do not cover the area with airtight dressings unless your doctor tells you to
• Use only for the duration advised by your doctor, do not use for longer
• Avoid contact with eyes, mouth and open wounds

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Apply as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for the next application, skip the missed one
• Do not apply extra to make up for a missed dose

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct heat and sunlight
• Keep the tube tightly closed
• Keep out of reach of children
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Are allergic to clobetasol, neomycin, or any related steroid or antibiotic
• Have a viral skin infection like chickenpox, herpes or shingles
• Have untreated fungal or tuberculous skin infection
• Have acne, rosacea or perioral dermatitis

TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU

• Are pregnant or breastfeeding
• Need to use it on the face, groin, or armpits
• Need to use it on a child
• Have thin or damaged skin
• Are using it for a long period or on large areas of the body
• Have any hearing problems, as neomycin can rarely affect hearing if absorbed

MEDICINES THAT CAN INTERACT

• Other topical steroids or antibiotics used at the same time
• Other medicines applied to the same area of skin
• Any oral or injectable steroids you may be taking
