Uses and Benefits of LOFATIN CREAM (LULICONAZOLE 1% W/W)

Luliconazole 1% w/w cream/lotion is used to treat fungal skin infections.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Ringworm infection (tinea corporis)
• Athlete's foot (tinea pedis)
• Jock itch (tinea cruris)
• Other superficial fungal skin infections as diagnosed by your doctor

HOW IT WORKS

• It belongs to a group of medicines called antifungals
• It damages the cell membrane of the fungus, stopping it from growing and spreading
• This helps clear the infection and relieve itching, redness and scaling

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not used for bacterial skin infections
• Not used for viral infections like herpes or warts
• Not used for nail fungal infections unless specifically prescribed
• Not used for eye, mouth or internal infections
• Not a substitute for oral antifungal treatment in severe or widespread infections

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Mild burning or stinging at the site of application
• Itching
• Redness of the skin
• Dryness or peeling of treated skin

LESS COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Irritation or discomfort at application site
• Mild rash
• Skin tenderness

SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY

• Severe skin rash, blistering or peeling
• Swelling of the face, lips or throat
• Difficulty breathing
• Signs of a severe allergic reaction such as hives with dizziness

How to Use LOFATIN CREAM (LULICONAZOLE 1% W/W)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• For external use on the skin only
• Wash and dry the affected area before applying
• Apply a thin layer to cover the affected area and a little surrounding skin, as prescribed by your doctor
• Wash your hands after application unless hands are the area being treated
• Do not cover the area with an airtight bandage unless advised
• Use for the full duration advised by your doctor, even if symptoms improve early
• Avoid contact with eyes, nose, mouth and open wounds

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Apply as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for your next application, skip the missed one
• Do not apply extra to make up for a missed dose

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct heat and sunlight
• Keep the tube or bottle tightly closed
• Keep out of reach of children
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Are allergic to luliconazole or any other antifungal in this class
• Have known hypersensitivity to any ingredient in the cream/lotion base

TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU

• Are pregnant or planning pregnancy
• Are breastfeeding
• Have broken, infected or very sensitive skin
• Are using other topical medicines on the same area
• Have not improved after using this medicine for the advised duration

MEDICINES THAT CAN INTERACT

• Other topical steroid or antifungal creams applied to the same area may affect how well this works
• Inform your doctor about all other skin treatments you are using
• Significant drug interactions are unlikely since it is applied on skin, but always inform your doctor of all medicines and creams you use

Can I use this medicine on my face?

Only if your doctor has specifically advised it, as facial skin is more sensitive.

How long does it take to work?

Most infections improve within a couple of weeks, but you should complete the full course as advised even if symptoms disappear earlier.

Can I use makeup or moisturiser over the treated area?

• It is best to avoid applying other products over the treated area unless your doctor says it is safe.
