This medicine is mainly used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults who need more than one medicine to control it.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Controlling high blood pressure
• Reducing strain on the heart in patients with hypertension
• Sometimes used along with other heart medicines as advised by the doctor

HOW IT WORKS

• Lercanidipine relaxes and widens blood vessels by blocking calcium entry into vessel wall muscles, lowering blood pressure
• Atenolol slows the heart rate and reduces the force of heart contraction by blocking beta receptors, lowering blood pressure and heart workload
• Together they give better blood pressure control than either alone

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not used for treating sudden chest pain (angina attack) episodes

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once daily
• Take it at the same time every day, preferably before food or as advised, since food can affect absorption
• Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew unless your doctor says it is fine
• Do not stop the medicine suddenly, even if you feel well, as this can cause a sudden rise in blood pressure or heart problems
• Continue taking it regularly, along with lifestyle measures like low-salt diet and exercise, as advised

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember on the same day
• If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and continue your normal schedule
• Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed one
