This combination medicine is used to manage type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults, along with diet and exercise.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• To lower high blood sugar (glucose) levels in type 2 diabetes
• Used when a single diabetes medicine does not control sugar levels well enough
• Helps improve overall blood sugar control alongside lifestyle changes

HOW IT WORKS

• Dapagliflozin helps the kidneys remove excess sugar from the body through urine
• Sitagliptin increases certain natural hormones (incretins) that help the pancreas release more insulin after meals and reduce sugar production by the liver
• Together, they lower blood sugar through two complementary mechanisms

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not used for type 1 diabetes
• Not used for diabetic ketoacidosis
• Not a substitute for insulin in patients who require it
• Not intended for weight loss, though some weight reduction may occur as a side effect

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Urinary tract infections

LESS COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Low blood sugar (especially if taken with other diabetes medicines)
• Dizziness
• Back pain
• Upper respiratory tract infection
• Joint pain

SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY

• Signs of ketoacidosis such as nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, tiredness, and difficulty breathing (even with normal blood sugar)
• Signs of dehydration or very low blood pressure such as dizziness or fainting
• Severe urinary tract or genital infection with fever and pain
• Signs of pancreatitis such as severe stomach pain spreading to the back, with or without vomiting
• Allergic reactions such as swelling of face, lips, throat, or difficulty breathing
• Unusual skin blistering or peeling

How to Use MACSITA-D 50/5MG TABLET (DAPAGLIFLOZIN 5MG + SITAGLIPTIN 50MG)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once daily
• Can be taken with or without food, but try to take it at the same time each day
• Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew unless advised
• Continue taking it regularly even if you feel well, as diabetes needs ongoing treatment
• Keep following the diet and exercise plan advised by your doctor
• Monitor your blood sugar levels as directed

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember on the same day
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one
• If you miss doses often, inform your doctor

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Are allergic to dapagliflozin, sitagliptin, or any ingredient in the tablet
• Have type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis
• Have severe kidney disease or are on dialysis
• Are pregnant or planning pregnancy

TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU
