Uses and Benefits of MOX CLAV 1000GM TABLET (AMOXYCILLIN + CLAVULINIC ACID)

This composition is prescribed to treat bacterial infections affecting different parts of the body.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Respiratory tract infections such as sinusitis, bronchitis and pneumonia
• Ear, nose and throat infections
• Urinary tract infections
• Skin and soft tissue infections
• Dental infections and abscesses
• Infections after certain surgeries, as advised by the doctor

HOW IT WORKS

• Amoxycillin kills bacteria by stopping them from building their protective cell wall
• Some bacteria produce an enzyme that destroys amoxycillin before it can act
• Clavulanic acid blocks this enzyme, protecting amoxycillin and widening the range of bacteria it can kill

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Viral infections such as common cold, flu or most sore throats
• Fungal infections
• As a general painkiller or fever medicine
• Preventing infections without a doctor's advice

• Yellowing of skin or eyes, dark urine (signs of liver problems)
• Severe skin reactions with blistering or peeling
• Swelling of face, lips, tongue or throat, and difficulty breathing (allergic reaction)
• Unusual bruising or bleeding

How to Use MOX CLAV 1000GM TABLET (AMOXYCILLIN + CLAVULINIC ACID)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, in the strength, frequency and duration advised
• Can be taken with or without food, but taking it with food may reduce stomach upset
• Swallow tablets whole with water; shake syrup well before measuring the dose with the given cup or spoon
• Complete the full course even if you feel better before finishing it
• Do not stop the medicine early as the infection may return or become resistant to treatment

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take the missed dose as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and continue as scheduled
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one

STORAGE

• Store tablets at room temperature, away from heat, light and moisture
• Reconstituted syrup usually needs to be kept in a refrigerator and used within the period mentioned on the label
• Keep out of reach of children
• Discard any unused or expired medicine safely

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Blood thinners such as warfarin
• Methotrexate used for cancer or autoimmune conditions
• Allopurinol for gout
• Oral contraceptive pills, as effectiveness may be reduced
