Uses and Benefits of MOXICIP EYE DROP (Moxifloxacin 0.5%)
Moxifloxacin 0.5% eye drops are used to treat bacterial infections affecting the eye.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Bacterial conjunctivitis (redness, discharge, irritation of the eye)
- Prevention of eye infection before or after eye surgery, as advised by your doctor
- Other bacterial infections of the outer eye as diagnosed by an eye specialist
HOW IT WORKS
- Moxifloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic
- It stops bacteria from multiplying by blocking enzymes they need to copy their DNA
- This helps clear the infection and reduce symptoms like redness, swelling, and discharge
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Viral eye infections (like common viral conjunctivitis)
- Fungal eye infections
- Allergic eye conditions such as allergic conjunctivitis
- General eye dryness or irritation not caused by infection

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS
- Mild eye irritation or stinging after applying the drop
- Watery eyes
- Temporary blurred vision right after use
- Dryness or a feeling of something in the eye
LESS COMMON SIDE EFFECTS
- Redness or itching around the eye
- Headache
- Sensitivity to light
- Eyelid swelling
SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY
- Severe eye pain, swelling, or worsening redness
- Sudden vision loss or significant change in vision
- Signs of an allergic reaction such as rash, swelling of the face/lips, or difficulty breathing
- Severe itching, blistering, or peeling around the eye

How to Use MOXICIP EYE DROP (Moxifloxacin 0.5%)
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Wash your hands before using the eye drop
- Tilt your head back slightly and pull down the lower eyelid to form a small pocket
- Instil the prescribed number of drops into the affected eye without touching the tip of the bottle to your eye or eyelid
- Close your eyes gently for a minute after applying to let the medicine spread
- Avoid blinking rapidly or rubbing the eye right after applying
- Use only in the eye, do not swallow
- Continue for the full course of days advised by your doctor, even if symptoms improve early
- If using another eye drop or ointment, wait at least 5-10 minutes between products
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Apply it as soon as you remember
- If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and continue your regular schedule
- Do not apply two doses together to make up for a missed one
STORAGE
- Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
- Keep the bottle tightly closed when not in use
- Discard the bottle after the advised period once opened (check label or ask your pharmacist)
- Keep out of reach of children
