This combination medicine is mainly used to treat infectious diarrhoea and gastrointestinal infections caused by a mix of bacteria and protozoa.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Acute infectious diarrhoea caused by susceptible bacteria and protozoa
• Mixed intestinal infections where both antibacterial and antiprotozoal action is needed
• Traveller's diarrhoea in some cases, as decided by the doctor

HOW IT WORKS

• Nitazoxanide interferes with the energy metabolism of protozoa and anaerobic bacteria, stopping their growth
• Ofloxacin blocks bacterial enzymes needed for DNA replication, killing susceptible bacteria
• Together they provide broader coverage against organisms causing diarrhoea

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Viral diarrhoea or common viral gastroenteritis
• Diarrhoea caused by food intolerance or non-infectious causes
• Routine prevention of diarrhoea without doctor's advice
• Infections unrelated to the gut, unless specifically advised by a doctor

• Severe allergic reaction with swelling of face, lips or throat, or difficulty breathing
• Severe skin reaction with blistering or peeling
• Tendon pain or swelling, especially in the ankle or heel
• Signs of liver problems such as yellowing of eyes/skin, dark urine, severe fatigue
• Irregular heartbeat or palpitations
• Severe, persistent diarrhoea (may indicate a new infection)
• Seizures or unusual mental changes

How to Use NIZONIDE O SYRUP (NITAZOXANIDE 100 MG + OFLOXACIN 50 MG)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually with food to reduce stomach upset
• Swallow tablets with a full glass of water
• Complete the full course even if you feel better before finishing it
• Do not increase or decrease the dose on your own
• Maintain adequate fluid intake, especially if you have diarrhoea

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take the missed dose as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue your normal schedule
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep out of reach of children
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
