Uses and Benefits of NIZONIDE SUSPENSION (NITAZOXANIDE 100 MG/5ML)
Nitazoxanide suspension is mainly used to treat infectious diarrhoea caused by certain parasites in children and adults.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Treatment of diarrhoea caused by Giardia lamblia
- Treatment of diarrhoea caused by Cryptosporidium parvum
- Used in some other parasitic gut infections as advised by the doctor
HOW IT WORKS
- It interferes with the energy metabolism process that parasites need to survive
- This stops the parasite from multiplying and helps the body clear the infection
- It also has some activity against certain viruses, though this use is decided by the doctor
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- It is not used for common viral diarrhoea unless specifically prescribed
- It is not used for bacterial infections like typhoid
- It is not a general painkiller or fever medicine
- It should not be used to self-treat any stomach upset without a doctor's diagnosis

How to Use NIZONIDE SUSPENSION (NITAZOXANIDE 100 MG/5ML)
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Shake the bottle well before each use
- Use the measuring cup or oral syringe provided, not a household spoon
- Take with food, as this improves absorption and reduces stomach upset
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, in terms of amount and number of days
- Complete the full course even if symptoms improve earlier
- Do not increase or decrease the dose on your own
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Take the missed dose as soon as you remember
- If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and continue as scheduled
- Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one
- If unsure, check with your pharmacist or doctor
STORAGE
- Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
- Keep the bottle tightly closed
- Do not refrigerate or freeze unless the label specifically says so
- Discard any unused suspension after the period mentioned on the label, usually a few weeks after mixing
