Norfloxacin 200mg is mainly used to treat bacterial infections, particularly of the urinary tract and digestive system.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Urinary tract infections (UTIs)
• Infectious diarrhoea caused by susceptible bacteria
• Prostate infections in some cases
• Certain sexually transmitted infections like gonorrhea, as advised by a doctor

HOW IT WORKS

• It blocks bacterial enzymes needed for DNA replication
• This stops bacteria from growing and multiplying
• The body's immune system then clears the remaining infection

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• It is not effective against viral infections like flu or common cold
• It is not used for fungal infections
• It should not be used for minor infections that can resolve on their own
• It is not a general painkiller or fever medicine

This medicine should always be taken exactly as prescribed, and the full course should be completed even if symptoms improve early, to prevent bacterial resistance.

• Tendon pain or swelling, especially in the ankle (risk of tendon rupture)
• Severe allergic reaction with swelling of face, lips, or throat
• Signs of liver problems such as yellowing of skin or eyes
• Severe diarrhoea with blood (may indicate serious intestinal infection)
• Numbness, tingling, or unusual nerve symptoms
• Sudden mood changes, confusion, or seizures
• Irregular heartbeat

How to Use NORILET-A TABLET (NORFLOXACIN 200MG)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor
• It is usually taken on an empty stomach, at least one hour before or two hours after meals
• Swallow the tablet with a full glass of water
• Avoid taking it with milk, dairy products, or antacids at the same time, as they can reduce absorption
• Drink plenty of water through the day while on this medicine
• Complete the full course even if you feel better before finishing it

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take the missed dose as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep out of reach of children
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Are allergic to norfloxacin or other fluoroquinolone antibiotics
• Are a child or adolescent under 18 years, unless specifically advised by a doctor
• Have a history of tendon problems linked to fluoroquinolones
