This medicine is used mainly to treat high blood pressure in adults who need more than one drug to keep their blood pressure under control.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Management of hypertension (high blood pressure)
• Used when blood pressure is not controlled by a single medicine alone

HOW IT WORKS

• Olmesartan blocks a hormone called angiotensin II, helping blood vessels relax and widen
• Cilnidipine is a calcium channel blocker that relaxes blood vessel walls, lowering pressure
• Chlorthalidone is a diuretic that helps the kidneys remove extra salt and water, reducing fluid volume in the blood vessels
• Together they lower blood pressure through three different mechanisms

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not used for immediate emergency lowering of very high blood pressure
• Not a treatment for heart attack or stroke once it has occurred
• Not used for general body swelling unrelated to blood pressure
• Not a substitute for lifestyle changes like diet, exercise and weight control

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Dizziness
• Headache
• Tiredness or weakness
• Increased urination
• Swelling of ankles or feet

LESS COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Nausea or upset stomach
• Muscle cramps
• Low blood pressure symptoms like light-headedness on standing
• Changes in blood potassium or sodium levels seen on blood tests
• Increased uric acid or blood sugar levels

SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY

• Severe dizziness, fainting or very low blood pressure
• Swelling of face, lips, tongue or throat, or difficulty breathing (allergic reaction)
• Severe weakness, muscle cramps or irregular heartbeat (may indicate electrolyte imbalance)
• Very little or no urine output
• Yellowing of skin or eyes, or signs of liver problems
• Severe diarrhoea, vomiting or dehydration

How to Use OLKEM TRIO 6.25 TAB (Olmesartan 20mg + Cilnidipine 10mg + Chlorthalidone 6.25mg)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once a day
• Swallow the tablet with a glass of water, with or without food, at the same time each day
• Do not crush or chew unless your doctor or pharmacist tells you it is safe to do so
• Continue taking it regularly even if you feel well, as blood pressure control needs continuous treatment
• Do not stop suddenly without talking to your doctor

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take the missed dose as soon as you remember on the same day
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue your normal schedule
• Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed one

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep in the original pack until it is time to take the dose
• Keep out of reach of children and pets
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Are pregnant or planning pregnancy, or are breastfeeding
• Are allergic to olmesartan, cilnidipine, chlorthalidone, sulfa-related drugs, or any other ingredient in this medicine
• Have severe kidney disease or are on dialysis
• Have severe liver disease
• Have very low blood pressure or are unable to pass urine

TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU

• Have diabetes, gout, or a history of high uric acid
• Have kidney or liver problems
• Have a history of low sodium or low potassium levels
• Are elderly or have heart rhythm problems
• Are taking any other blood pressure medicines or supplements

MEDICINES THAT CAN INTERACT

• Other blood pressure lowering medicines or diuretics
• Potassium supplements or potassium-sparing diuretics
• Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like ibuprofen
• Lithium
• Certain diabetes medicines, as blood sugar control may be affected
• Other drugs affecting kidney function
